Using Lubricants with Sex Toys

Lubricants are a must when using most sex toys. This helps to preserve the material and makes the ride a lot smoother. We could write a whole page on the use of lubricants and probably will but for the moment just remember these points:

Don’t be shy with the lubricant - the more the better.
Don’t use oil based lubricants when using latex sex toys as it can cause the rubber to degenerate. Try a water based lubricant such as NX9
Keep a cup of warm water by your bed as sometimes the water in the lubricant can evaporate but the actual lube is still there – this means just add water and your away again.
Consider putting the lubricant tube / tub into the warm water for five minutes to warm it before use – It takes away the initial shock of a cold lubricant.

Sex Toys Storage

Before storing your sex toys clean them thoroughly then remove the batteries as these can leak and often ruin the sex toys. Whenever batteries run down be sure to change them as this can cause leakage.

Your sex toys should be kept away from direct sunlight or heat and away from moisture in an area free from dust or lint. We recommend a plastic tub like an ice cream tub.

Silicone Sex Toys

Silicone is a very durable material which is non porous meaning you can wash it at high temperatures using soap and water. You should be careful of any plastic parts however which can be damaged at high temperatures.

Although silicone is very durable you should be careful of nails and teeth as these can cause cracks which can harbour germs or lead to tears.

Jelly or Latex rubber Sex Toys

Latex sex toys tend to be cheaper than silicone toys but also aren’t as durable so take a little more looking after. The latex is permeable which means that we don’t recommend that you use soap on your toy so it is best to use hot water alone.

Also remember that oil based lubricants or massage oils will deteriorate the latex quickly so you should use only water based lubricants such as NX9

Plastic Sex Toys

Plastic sex toys are probably the easiest to clean and can be cleaned using simple soap and water.

If your sex toy has wires connecting the toy to the control mechanism then you should take care not to pick it up by the cord. If it starts to work intermittently then you probably have a short in the wire. This should only be fixed by those experienced in fixing wires/ electrics.
